Looping an Image Sequence in Maya

Heyo,

Here’s a really quick tutorial on how to loop an image sequence in Maya.

First, load up your animated sequence material and file. Click the options box next to the purple “Image Number“, as shown below. We will do this to take note of what our expression’s name is as we go on.

After that, load up your Expression Editor:

And set your Select Filter to By Expression by right-clicking in the Selection, Objects box:

Select the expression created by the image sequence. The editable expression should look like this:

file.frameExtension=frame

Here, we can modify it to loop our animation once it reaches the end. I’m using a sequence that begins with 0 and ends at 94 (a 95 frame sequence). So let’s do this:

file.frameExtension=(frame%95)

To finalize, click Edit and the changes will be committed! Woot! Looping sequence! Just scrub your timeline to see the effect!
